The Longform Guide article on Slate is awesome. I loved the snippets of interviews from The Paris Review they’re fascinating. Although, once you start reading ‘The Art of Nonfiction’ or ‘The Art of Fiction’, you can trapped down a pretty deep rabbit hole, as I have found out a few times!

Oh my gosh, you could literally go on and on forever. Anyone who has learned the “rules” then creates more rules by breaking the rules they know. It’s like poetry, once you know how to write form poetry, then you can accurately write free form because you know what you’re rebelling against. I totally understand what you’re saying. Slate is awesome in general – their articles are so well founded and always really intelligent.

I think my favourite ‘The Art of Fiction’ interview was with Jack Kerouac. I love him anyway, but the interview really showed every side of him, foremost, his rule breaking ways that you mentioned :)

I heard about the Moby Dick/Big Read on NPR. It sounds fascinating, and I am considering jumping on board. I have never read Moby Dick, so this may be my opportunity.
As always, thanks for the news heads-up.
